From the time she was a little
girl, dogs have been Kim's life! When she was a teenager she
rescued a Neapolitan Mastiff named Crash. Due to past abuse,
Crash was fear-aggressive with people. Kim worked with him for
months and soon he began to trust people. Over time, Crash became
a model citizen and accompanied Kim wherever she went.
Kim got her first job at a dog boarding facility
at age 17 before moving to Doggy Haven Resort 6 years ago.
Kim has been General Manager at Doggy Haven
Resort for the past 3 years . In this position, she supervises
our staff and cares for many dogs each day; she is an expert
in observing
and interpreting
dog body language and behavior.
Kim is especially interested multi-dog households
and has most recently become passionate about clicker training.
She and her
dog Ky-Mani have become a dynamic clicker duo; Kim can't wait
to share her skills with her students.
In addition to her work at Doggy Haven, Kim is a member of both
the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and Puget Sound Positive
Trainers (PSPT).
Outside of work, Kim can be found hiking, snowboarding or jogging,
preferably with a dog or two in tow. In 2009, she ran her first
marathon. She and her husband live in Bothell with their two
Mastiffs,
Ky-Mani and Irie, and two cats.
Kim's students are lucky to have the best of both worlds: a
savvy and motivated dog trainer as well as a kind, supportive,
humorous people person.
